Fire Extinguisher Requirements

Fire extinguishers must be inspected monthly and serviced annually by a licensed professional, as required by the California State Fire Marshal and Health and Safety Code. At least one extinguisher rated 2A is required per 3,000 sq. ft., with a minimum of one per facility. For areas with flammable liquids or electrical hazards, Class BC extinguishers must be provided, with a maximum travel distance of 50 feet for Class B hazards. The maximum travel distance to an extinguisher cannot exceed 75 feet for general fire protection.
